Chatted with my brother, a seminary student, last night for close to an hour...
He told me to beware of sinless perfection teachings and then we got into a pretty
good chat about whether or not man has a dual-nature (sin and spirit) and what is
at the root of believers sinning... right up until my cell phone went dead. I didn't have a charger (mine broke), so I haven't had a chance to get back with him yet. It was great timing too, just when I was about to drive home a great point. Oh well.
I don't want to seem like I'm going overboard with this new teaching and new author I've been studying. I want to be patient and test all things according to God's perfect word. It's just that the feelings of liberation are so good. I just feel so free from any type of power of sin over me. It feels so good.
But I suppose legalism felt good once. And it was bondage.
Does not the ear test words,
as the palate tastes its food? Job 12:11
With Him are wisdom and might;
To Him belong counsel and understanding. Job 12:13
He reveals mysteries from the darkness
And brings the deep darkness into light. Job 12:22
For God is my witness, how I long for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus.
And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment,
so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ; Phillipians 1:8-10
Lord,
Help me to know your truth. The truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ that bought me from death and clothes me in righteousness before a Holy God. The truth that has accomplished my redemption and sealed my eternal future in Heaven. Make it resonate inside me. Let me hum with the presence of You in my life, so that those who do not know you would notice and become enlightened to Your truth and captured by Your love. Thank You Lord for Your constancy, Your rich blessings and Your grace that made knowing You possible. In the name of Jesus Christ, the beautiful Lamb of God,
Amen
